guardians of the galaxy reducing file size

Last summer at Digital E3 2021, Square Enix surprised many fans by devoting much of its time to Marvel. Not only has the company introduced the Avengers: War for Wakanda expansion, bringing Black Panther to the live service game, but it also introduced fans to guardians of the galaxy from Eidos Montreal. Despite being the original version of Eidos Montreal on Team Marvel, the game seeks to keep the tone fans have come to know both in the comics and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Since then, plenty of news and trailers have continued to arrive, showing off new gameplay and characters like Cosmo the Space Dog, Lady Hellbender, and more. With only a week to go, fans were a bit shocked recently to learn that guardians of the galaxyThe file size requirements of the PC would take up an absolutely massive 150GB of space. This number immediately made console gamers a little nervous as many games recently requested more and more space to install.

Fortunately, things seem to be improving in terms of the file size requirements. The official guardians of the galaxy The Twitter account provided an update for fans concerned about their hard drive space, a common feeling given the staggering size of many modern games like the next one. Call of Duty: The Vanguard. The original 150GB requirement was dropped as the studio continued to update and optimize the game as a whole. As the game is now in the final stages of this process, the launch day file size for guardians of the galaxy on PC has been significantly reduced to 80 GB.

Additionally, the account also confirmed the console size requirements. When specifically requested by a fan, the guardians of the galaxy The Twitter account responded by saying that console gamers, for both old and next-gen owners, would need around 50 GB to install the game. Currently, Xbox gamers who have pre-ordered the game digitally can also preload the game, while PlayStation gamers can do so 48 hours after release. Eidos Montreal is looking to activate a preloading system for the Steam version, but has nothing to announce at this time.

After the controversy with Marvel’s Avengers and its live service component, guardians of the galaxy takes a completely different approach being a story driven single player style game. In fact, many previews of the game have compared some of its gameplay to Mass Effect, as not only can players issue orders to other Guardians during combat, there will also be a branching narrative that allows players to make choices during dialogue.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy releases October 26 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
