Houston Traffic: Avoid These Street Closures Near Shell Freedom Over Texas Event

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Although TxDOT construction crews are giving Houston drivers a break from major freeway closures this holiday weekend, we’ll still see street closures around the Shell Freedom Over event. Texas Sunday at Eleanor Tinsley Park.

Large portions of Memorial Drive and Allen Parkway will be closed in both directions. So if you want to watch the fireworks from Eleanor Tinsley Park, the city says you’ll have to park downtown and walk.

Keep in mind that if you are going to this area to watch the fireworks, there are no public activities or amenities.

Here is a full list of street closures for the big event:

Closed Sunday July 4 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

• Allen Parkway exit ramps north and south of I-45

• Allen Parkway entering and exiting between Taft and Bagby Street

• Walker Street divided to outgoing Allen Parkway

• Heiner Street to West Dallas Street

• Crosby Street to Allen Parkway entering

• Park Vista Drive to Allen Parkway entering

• Gillette Street entering Allen Parkway

• Entering and exiting Memorial Drive between Shepherd Drive and Bagby Street

• Sabine Street to Sabine Street Bridge to Allen Parkway outbound

• Sabine Street to Memorial Drive

• Westbound North Memorial Way Entrance Ramp between Trinity Street and Sabine Street

• 100, rue Sabine, east curb lane

• Silver Street to Memorial Drive
