How to use the double hull in Apex Legends: new hop-up in season 11

Apex Legends Season 11 adds a new hop-up accessory to the mix: Dual Shell – suitable for two weapons, which will dramatically increase the speed at which you can chamber a round (or two). Here’s how to use the new hop-up.

Hop-ups are unique attachments in Apex Legends that are only suitable for certain weapons, giving them a distinct advantage. With each new season, the Respawn Entertainment developers try to turn things around, either by adding and / or removing hop-ups from the loot pool.

For Season 11, the latest addition is the Dual Shell hop-up. As the name suggests, this allows you to charge two rounds instead of one when reloading the weapon, cutting reload time in half.

So, on which weapons can you apply Dual Shell? Only two: the 30-30 Repeater and the Mastiff shotgun.

These two weapons load by inserting a new round at a time, a deliberate balancing choice. But, both weapons have fallen out of favor in recent seasons, and so this new hop-up acts as a way to improve both weapons without actually affecting their stats.

No magic touches are required here, unlike other hop-ups like the Boosted Loader, which require specific timing from the player.

The Dual Shell is a purple level hop-up, for the 30-30 repeater and the Mastiff.

With the Dual Shell, you’ll simply need to find the hop-up on the ground, in loot bins, or in care packages, then attach it to the designated weapon (i.e. the 30-30 Repeater’s Mastiff.

Then, when you have fired a few shots, you will notice that as your Legend reloads the weapon, the ammo count will increase by two instead of one.

Essentially, your reload time is reduced by 50%, allowing you to fire 30-30 rounds down and immediately reload a bunch of rounds in the chamber.

The Dual Shell will be available at the start of Season 11, and you can also pick it up from the shooting range if you want to give it a try before jumping into a match.

Hopefully that’s enough to make the 30-30 and Mastiff more viable choices compared to their competing weapon options.
