A mum has found an ingenious solution to weighing her newborn son – by sticking him on an M&S fruit and vegetable scale.
Freddie-Jay Moss’ weight, ten weeks, has been a mystery since baby clinics closed due to Covid. But mum Tasha, 31, spotted the old-fashioned machine while shopping and decided to check her little one was gaining weight.

And the good news is that Freddie-Jay, who was born weighing 6lbs 5oz, is now tipping the scales at 10lbs 4oz.
Tasha said: “I had Freddie in my arms. I had just finished feeding him and I saw the scales. I said, ‘Are we going to weigh him quickly?’
“I haven’t weighed him in so long. It’s obviously not as accurate as the digital ones, but that gives me an idea of how heavy it is.
Tasha said she expected her baby to cry, but he loved being on the scale. She added: “It was reassuring to know that he is gaining weight and that I am doing something right.
“I didn’t notice the ‘group choice’ sign in the background until I zoomed in.”
Girlfriend Natalie Atkins was with mom-of-three Tasha at the store in Reading, Berks, and snapped this photo, posting it online, above.
Her caption read: ‘When your best friend can’t get her baby weighed because no baby clinics are running due to Covid (other than for emergencies). Good old M&S.
Social media users praised Tasha’s quick-wittedness. One wrote: “That’s ingenious. Another said: ‘Can we do this next time we go shopping?
Tasha, from Finchampstead, Berks, added: “People have been positive about how cute he is and he’s not just any baby, he’s an M&S baby.”
