Residents of the northern, central and southern regions of Trinidad, served by the Caroni water treatment plant, will be without water until tonight due to an emergency shutdown of the factory.
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said the disruption will facilitate emergency electrical maintenance work on the facility.
The work is expected to be completed by 9 p.m.
WASA said the affected areas include:
North Trinidad served by Valsayn Booster A & B stations:
Saddle Road, San Juan
Chemin Laventille, Village Febeau
Success Village, Laventille
North of Trinidad served by El Socorro Booster station:
Eastern dry river
Dibe, Long Circular
Port of spain
Caroni North and South Bank Road
Caroni Savannah Road
Southwest Peninsula from San Fernando to Point Fortin
WASA reminded customers that it can take up to 24 hours for supply to normalize in some affected areas after the plant resumes operations.
