What is Project I-635 and how long will it take?

TxDOT is reconstructing an 11 mile segment of I-635 from US 75 to I-30. The goal is to improve both safety and mobility on this stretch, from North Dallas to Mesquite. The project costs $1.74 billion and began in the spring of 2020, according to TxDOT.

The reconstruction will provide five main lanes and two two-way managed lanes, continuous frontage roads from Town Boulevard East, and a complete reconstruction of the I-30/I-635 interchange.

The project is expected to be completed by 2024.
