WASA: Parts of central and northern Trinidad without water, repairs underway

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has acknowledged that customers served by the Valsayn Highlift station are now experiencing an interruption in their pipeline supply.

It started at 9 a.m. and is expected to continue until 3 p.m.

In a statement on Tuesday, WASA said that during this time emergency repairs will be underway to a faulty high pressure pump at the facility.

Affected areas include the northern main eastern road from St Joseph to Tunapuna, including Curepe and St Augustine.

Customers in parts of central Trinidad served by the Freeport Water Treatment Plant (WTP) are also being advised that they may experience an interruption to their normal piped supply from 8 a.m. today until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

This is to facilitate major emergency pump repair work at Freeport Well #17.

Gran Couva, Mayo, Pepper Village, Calcutta #2 & #3, Chickland Village, Christian Village, Siewdass Road, Central Park, Preysal and surrounding areas are expected to be impacted.

It may take up to 24 hours for service to normalize in some affected areas after repairs are completed at those facilities.

Limited water truck service will be available upon request.

For more information or assistance, customers may contact the WASA Call Center toll-free at 800-4420/4426.
